What’s the Big Curry all about?
The Soldiers’ Charity Big Curry is our flagship fundraiser and October will see people up and down the country, and overseas, taking part to raise vital funds for soldiers, former soldiers and their families. Although you don’t have to wait until then, you can hold one anytime that suits! Becoming a Big Curry host is an easy and social way for people to raise money and can be as simple as a beer and Balti with friends or as adventurous as organising a Gala Curry event.

How did it start
Thanks to the British Army, curry is officially the nation’s favourite dish. Back in the 18th and 19th centuries 20,000 British Soldiers were stationed across the sub continent and the cooks of the East India Company developed anglicised versions of Indian dishes, and curry was born. The Soldiers’ Charity Big Curry therefore seems a fitting way to support our soldiers, former soldiers and their families.

The Big Curry is a brilliant way to show support for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity and the work that it does for the Army family.
Supporters of The Soldiers’ Charity stand by members of the Army because:
“They are the best, most loyal, unselfish, brave young men and women in the country today. They do not complain. They look after their mates.”
“Although retired from the Army for some time, I am still very much part of the Army family.”
“Having done my National Service in the 1950s, I have always felt sympathy and a great camaraderie for the Army and those Army families who frequently go through so much.”
“They stand up for me and my family, and put their lives on the line to protect us.”
“My late husband was a soldier, and the memories of our married life with our beloved regiment are always with me. We are always a family in army life – loyalty is the most important factor of all.”
